Luxury Apartment giant Archstone is rumored to be pursued by big real estate rivals Equity Residential and Avalon Bay. Brookfield Asset Management, and Blackstone Group LP have also submitted bids. It does not appear, however, that the bids are high enough to incite the owners of Archstone to accept an offer. Archstone owns and operates many Luxury buildings in some of the hottest markets in the US, including Boston. In these times, such transaction makes a lot of sense for investors, since the luxury rental market is strong in many markets throughout the country.
Archstone is notorious for its role in the demise of Lehman Brothers Bank in 2008.
